The Aquabats are a band, a TV show, a lifestyle brand and a 30-year-old art project that refuses to end. I have co-managed them alongside founder Christian Jacobs through some of the most productive and complicated chapters of their career.
That meant running a million-dollar Kickstarter for their revival, exiting a half-dozen predatory music industry contracts, planning national tours year after year, producing livestreams during the complete shutdown of live music during COVID, moving $2.36M of merch without a dollar in paid advertising and figuring out Coachella logistics in real time.
I handle everything short of playing the instruments. The real work has been the business model overhaul that turned a cult band with a passionate fanbase into a sustainable, self-owned operation. Their music, their merch, their distribution. All brought in-house. All profitable.
Even superheroes need to get paid.
